{"id":19822,"date":"2017-09-07T14:00:12","date_gmt":"2017-09-07T05:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sulki-min.com\/wp\/?p=19822"},"modified":"2026-05-01T20:31:29","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T11:31:29","slug":"earth-here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sulki-min.com\/wp\/earth-here\/","title":{"rendered":"<em>Earth Here<\/em>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We were invited to design a flag for the earth, \u201creflecting the society of the future and focusing on what connects us,\u201d when \u201cnations are building walls rather than collectively facing up to urgent future challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Our flag depicts a cacophonous landscape of the earth\u2019s languages. The white-noise-like image collapses the words in 145 different languages that mean \u201chere\u201d: from the Spanish \u201caqu\u00ed\u201d to the Chinese \u201c\u8fd9\u91cc,\u201d or from the Ainu \u201c\u30c6\u30bf\u201d to the Zulu \u201cla.\u201d \u201cHere\u201d \u2013 the word and the idea \u2013 is interesting as it suggests the speaker\u2019s intimate relation to her or his place, while the meaning is often vague outside a specific context.
