Vitrine’s graphic identity, positioned between the Ilmin Museum’s logos, reflects its status as a space carved from the building’s preexisting conditions. The typeface is based on naru-che – a style originally developed in Japan in the early 1970s and adapted for Korean as gulim-che, which became one of the most widely used typefaces in Korea before it was increasingly shunned in recent years. The custom typeface, a stencil version of naru-che, both acknowledges the building’s complex history and the temporary nature of Vitrine. The sign is made as an openwork metal plate, with light coming from the backside.

[5263,4446,4909,1608,725,5339
5340
post-60533","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-5263","category-custom-letterform","category-en-post","category-environmental","category-ilmin-museum-of-art","category-openwork-on-painted-metal","tag-vitrine
["GET
