Maurizio Cattelan: We
We was a large-scale restrospective of the arist whose work explores the themes of repression, anxiety, authority, religion, love, family, life, and death with wry sense of humor commenting on institutions and power. The key visual to the identity is an illusionistic “beveled” lettering: a banal technique that associates the title with the monumental inscription, a symbol of life and death, authority and eternity. Incidentally, the “shadowed” letters also remind of digital watermarks embedded in images to identify their authenticity and ownership.
