Tense Switching: Non-Aligned Movement, the Third Worldism and Asian Art
The neither/nor nature of the movement (neither NATO nor Warsaw, neither east nor west, and… neither alive nor dead now?) informed the choice of geometric modern typefaces that embody revisionist historical perspectives (non-square Korean and a monospaced version of Futura); aligning of the text columns to opposing axes; and the overlaying of the contrasting shape, which we call the “complicated ring”: a brush-stroked trajectory from the NAM’s conception in Bandung through the hosting cities of the conference to Gwangju, where the forum was taking place.
