This is a contribution to an exhibition about the design legacy of Braun. We are fascinated by the small, mysterious codes – letters and figures sometimes combined with simple shapes – on mundane objects, inscribed apparently in a systematic manner. Functional Typography on a Braun Multiquick 3 Hand Blender is an extension of our ongoing play with the seemingly meaningful yet indecipherable codes barely visible on the surfaces of manufactured goods. We collected all the codes we could not comprehend from the only Braun product we have, a hand blender. The marks are arranged by where they are inscribed: from the blender itself to the shaft and the bottom of the beaker.
