Published in three volumes in conjunction with the Opening Festival of the Asia Culture Center Theater, The Book Whale includes essays about contemporary art, reviews of the works in the festival, and interviews with some of the artists. The format is quite large, but the bookish typography with a considerably large type size makes it look like an overblown book (a “whale”), rather than a tabloid newspaper that the large format might initially suggest. The reading experience is meant to be immersive: opening the book, you find yourself surrounded by the words, as if falling into the pages.
