As a reference for the artworks for the 1990s-themed fashion editorial in Heren, November 2016, we chose Fabien Baron’s art direction from the early- to mid-1990s for such magazines as Vogue Italy, Interview, and Harper’s Bazaar. It has always been an inspiration for us, but it would be pointless to try to mimic his style. Instead, we took an approach that is both literal and elusive. We summoned some of the famous magazine spreads he designed, and made them foggy and blurry, vaporing away the details. The shadowy images were then superimposed on the pictures, creating a haunted mood for the pages.
