Sasa[44]’s exhibition Wadangtangtungtang was created mainly for children and families, with the theme of shopping and everyday consumption. The title treatment reflects this theme with the “POP hand,” a highly stylized Korean letterform used in impromptu signs at various “points of purchase.” The type arrangement – the layers of words clumsily stacked on top of each other – suggests the possibility of collapse, which is also hinted at by the show’s title (a Korean echoic word that describes the loud sound of objects hitting the ground).
